Coral used as gem material is a branching skeleton-like structure built by small marine animals(coral polyps) related to reef forming corals. It naturally occurs in many colors including white, black,blue, lavender,pinkand many shades of red. Deposits are found along the coasts of the western Mediterranean countries, the Red Sea, Bay of Biscay, Canary Islands, Malaysian Archipelago, the Midway Islands, Japan and Hawaii.
Coral is reputed to have the ability to calm and improve life. Ii is considered a symbol for the Life Force Energy and is believed to help bring harmony to your heart.
Care: coral is much softer than other gem materials and as a result is should be stored carefully to avoid scratches. Cosmetics, hot water and bright daylight are damaging to it. Coral is also fragile and porous, so it should be protectred from sharp blows and kept away from chemicals. To clean, wipe it gently with a moist soft cloth.
Turquoise is usually considered blue, but depending upon its amount of mineralization, this stone can be green, yellow or even brown. It bridges all cultures and is found from East to West, from the Far East to the Southwest US. This stone is prized by every culture including those of Egypt, Persia, Tibet as well as the Aztecs and Incas of South Amreica.
