Amber, or fossil tree sap, comes from the now extinct conifer trees and ancient pines. Trees exuded the resin as a protective mechanism against disease and insect infestation and then it hardened and became preserved in the earth's crust for millions of years. It is very light in weight which allows it to be used in a large jewelry piece without feeling discomfort when wearing it.
Care: Amber is soft and easily scratched - store carefully. It will also lose its luster when expoed to alcohol or ether ( remember that perfume & hairspray contain alcohol). Clean with lukewarm water & a little dish washing liquid.
Amber is said to bring luck. When worn on the body, it is reported to protect health as well as being especiallty favored as symptomatic relief for headaches, toothaches, respiratory discomforts, infections & rheumatic pains.
