Lapis lazuli is a relatively rare, semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense blue color.  Lapis lazuli is a rock, not a mineral; a mineral has only one constituent, lapis lazuli is formed from more than one mineral.  It is compoased of grains of several blue minerals, including lazurite and sodalite.  The major sources of lapis are Afghanistan, Egypt, Chile & Canada.  Lapis was one of the first gemstones ever to be used and worn as jewelry.

Lapis is considered around the world to be a stone of truth & friendship. It is thought to bring about harmony in relationships and to cleanse the mental body while releasing old karmic patterns.  As a spiritual stone, it allows spiritual energy to be absorbed in the aura.

Care:this gemstone is easily scratched or chipped and water can dissolve its protective coating.  Clean with a soft dry cloth.
